On April 12, 2023, the first Bartender Competition "The Taste of Green Paradise" took place in the elegant ambience of the EdenBar. Top-class participants demonstrated their skills and talent.
On April 11 and 12, 2023, five finalists had the chance to show what a special job it is they're doing! The candidates convinced a top-class jury with creativity, knowledge and speed. Manuel Schlüssler took the victory. The award-winning drink is listed as "Taste of Green Paradise: Eden's Drink of the Year 2023" in our bar menu!
The prerequisite was that the candidates completed a professional vocational training and have at least two years of professional experience at the bar. The preselection was based on the qualifications of all applicants, the best candidates were invited to Zell am Ziller.
Four rounds, one award
The contest was moderated by our Chef de Bar Alexander Morgenstern, who has been involved in the world of beverage sensory analysis and history for many years. The top-class jury was made up of six big names: Jürgen Deibel, Carole Rohrmoser-Stein, Suwi Zlatic, Andi Hotter, Rupert Paar and Hans Reisetbauer.
The contest began with a written test and questions about the profession. On the second day, the bartenders created their own personal drink using a green ingredient of their choice from our herb garden. Afterwards, the participants competed against each other in a knowledge match in front of an audience. In the final discipline, accuracy and confidence in one's own abilities were on the drinks menu: After a blind tasting, the candidates mixed the drink they felt on their tongues.
We wanted and still want to offer bartenders the opportunity to compete, be creative, network and give their profession the shine it deserves in the elegant atmosphere of the five-star superior Green Spa Hotel MalisGarten.
It was a paradisiacal day at EdenBar.
